Sea Cadets is a national charity for young people between the ages of 10 and 18, recognized by the British Ministry of Defence and whose main patron is Queen Elizabeth II. 15,000 young people between 10 and 18, more than 400 units, 9,000 volunteers, 130,000 members across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Malta and Bermuda. This with the aim of joining the army of the royal family, paedophile. FACTS & PEDOPHILES

  • 363 complaints filed between 2012 and 2017, 282 were forwarded to the police.
  • The complaints and the traffic within the Sea Cadets was covered and ignored by the entire caste of the country, mainly the Ministry of Defense, for many years.
  • The allegations also led to the dismissal of 99 instructors in the three branches of the cadets: army, air and sea.
  • The figures were communicated to the BBC. They revealed that army cadets accounted for about 55 percent of the complaints, while air cadets generated about two-thirds and sea cadets the rest: about 8 percent.
  • 1,475,844 paid to victims of abuse in 2012, £64,782 in 2013 and £544,213 in 2014 and over £2 million in 2017. Source


  • Commander Brian Leonard, Sea Cadets at Tennal Grange in Birmingham. Rape of Martin, 12 years old. He died in 1996, never having faced justice. 
  • Alan Waters, Cheshunt Sea Cadets, Hertfordshire
  • In 1979: rape of Tony 14 years old. He was not judged, neither fired nor suspended, but promoted. Recidivism in India in 2006. 
  • Commander John Fitzpatrick, Glasgow Highlanders Army Cadets. Accused of rape of a minor in the 1980s, found not guilty and reinstated to the Sea Cadets. Repeatedly reoffended. : Fitzpatrick, Glasgow Highlanders Army Cadets.
  • Peter Cooper, instructor, Tennal Grange in Harborne, Birmingham. Convicted of sodomy and indecent assault on a minor in 2007, sentenced to 5 years. : Peter Cooper, instructor, Tennal Grange, Harborne, Birmingham.
  • William Hay, Aberdeen Sea cadets at Pocra Quay. Sexual assault and indecent assault on 12 boys aged 10 to 15 between 1981 and 1985, most recently in 2016. Trial postponed. .
  • Michael John Dickson, 44, head of Orpington Sea Cadets. Sexual assault for 11 years in the early 1990s. Sentenced to 8 years in prison. 
  • Peter Sherwin, Sea Cadets Midlands instructor. Serious sexual abuse in the 1970s and 1980s, suspended in 2013 and rehabilitated in 2014. Died in 2014. 
  • Terrence Matthews, Chatham Sea Cadets. Numerous rapes over 40 years. Sentenced in 2019 to 44 years in prison for 14 offences. Died in prison. 
  • Gavin Seagers, Dartford Sea Cadets instructor. Involved in the Wonderland Club network (Operation Cathedral) sentenced to two years in prison and released after one year. Arrested for grooming in 2005, no jail time. 
  • Daniel Willis, Suffolk Sea Cadets instructor. Charged with sexual abuse of a minor. Sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months. Then 6 months in jail for violating a court order in 2019 .
  • Michael Watson, 20. Possession of child pornography photos and a “child pornography manual”. Sentenced in 2019 to two years and four months in prison. Police found more than 1,000 still images and 82 movies in category A, the worst category. His arrest would have no connection with his involvement with the sea cadets. 
  • Robert Morton, officer with the Bebington Sea Cadets. Imprisoned in 2018 for 2 years for sexual acts with a minor. 
  • Robert Kenneth Silverthorne, of Weston-super-Mare, officer with the Burnham-On-Sea. Grooming and distribution of child pornography images. Sentenced to 2 years in prison in 2018. 
  • Eric Rowlands, volunteer officer at Holyhead sea cadets. Accused of sexual abuse that took place between the late 1970s and early 1980s. Sentenced to 4 years in prison. .
  • David Taylor, lieutenant at Wallasey Sea Cadets. Charged with downloading and possession of child pornography images in 2012. Had previously been convicted of abusing boys under 16 in the 1980s and 1990s and was jailed for 27 months in 2010 for possession of child pornography. 
  • Jeffrey Price, Bournemouth sea cadet instructor. 23 sexual offences between 1986 and 2001 and had already spent 12 years in prison. 
  • Philip Longbottom, officer at Sea Cadets. Sentenced to life imprisonment on several counts of rape, aggravated sexual assault, and indecent assault against boys over a 40-year period. He is nicknamed “Monster Mansion”.
  • Jerome Gay, Cadet Chief at Drumshoreland House. Filmed a 12-year-old boy being sexually assaulted by another cadet. He escaped a prison sentence / 2016.  
  • Lewis Hall, master at Sea Cadets. Grooming a 12-year-old girl. No jail time /2016.  
  • Stuart Stefano Benedetti, former Sea Cadets cadet. Guilty of sexual assault in the early 2000s and 2016. Sentenced to 15 years in prison.  
  • John Briggs, world-renowned pianist, Keighley Sea Cadets. Sexually abused boys for 24 years. Sentenced to 8 years in prison in 2014.  
  • Andrew Mattless, Wisbech Sea Cadets. Imprisoned in 2014 for 20 months on three charges of indecent images of children and animals.  
  • Gareth Mathias, former president of the Neath Chamber of Commerce, sea cadet instructor and former special constable. Convicted twice for making indecent images of children, in 2009 and again in 2011.  
  • Ian Barker, 29, 1st lieutenant with Sea Cadets. Nicknamed the Sadist. 3 years in prison in 2013 for sexual abuse and torture.  
  • Kevin James, 35, leader of the Llantwit Sea Cadets, guilty of indecent assault on minors, no jail time /2012.  
  • David Burns, Cambridge, instructor. Charged in 2009 with sexual assault, sentenced to three years in a juvenile detention center, and banned from working with minors for life.  
  • Scott McCutcheon (30), Belfast, instructor at Calvin Street Sea Cadet. Guilty of sexually abusing a minor from 1998 to 2004 and 13 charges of indecent assault involving two cadets between 2000 and 2003.  2 years suspended.  
  • Robert Vincent, of Oulton, training officer at Sea Cadets. Sentenced in 2008 to 14 years in prison for rape of a boy as early as 1969 and for 4 years.  
  • Ian Akers, of Bradford. Sentenced to 4 years in prison for sexual abuse of a minor between 1993 and 1997.  
  • John Kyle, 60, of Coach Road, Waterfoot, member of Blackburn Sea Cadets and Burnley Army Cadets. Sentenced in 1999 to 8 years in prison for sexually abusing teens for 30 years.

  • Thomas Wright, 67, Sunderland Sea Cadets. Abused four children aged four to 15 years between 1968 and 1982, sentenced to 15 years and four months in prison.  
  • Father Terry Atkinson, 68, Humberston, chaplain at the Cleethorpes and Grimsby Sea Cadets Corps. Charged in 2020 with sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy during the Shalom Youth Project. Was invited to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in July 2009.  
  • Alexander Johnston, 30, of Bletchley, instructor at Milton Keynes Sea Cadets. Charged in 2017 with sexual abuse of minors, sentenced to 4.5 years in prison    
  • HMCS Discovery Sea Cadets, a sexual abuse group from 1964 to 1980. A settlement was reached in 2006 in which the federal government agreed to pay $8 million to 35 former Sea Cadets and an additional $1.8 million to victims who had not yet come forward.
